Is powder coating the same as paint for storage tanks?

Powder coating and liquid paint are often lumped together as 'coatings', but they are different processes with different results. Can a whole large tank be powder coated?

Not as an assembly - the oven size and the heat tolerance of a completed tank make it impractical. The practical route is to powder- or fuse-coat the panels and fittings in the factory, then assemble on site, which is how GFS and FBE bolted tanks are built.

Which is better for a repaint job?

Liquid paint, because it can be applied in place after surface preparation; powder would require removing the part to an oven, which is rarely possible for a built tank. For first-time factory coating of panels, powder/fused systems give the more durable, uniform result.
