Volume without quality is a slower way to fail. A load that is nominally food waste but carries eight percent plastic does not simply reduce gas yield - it deposits film in the digester, blocks pumps and pipes, floats into a crust that traps gas, and ends up in the digestate, which then cannot be spread on land.
